Louis Middlebrook scrapbook, 1897-1906.

A scrapbook kept by Captain Louis Middlebrook of the United States Navy. Middlebrook was born in Trumbull, Connecticut, and was living in Hartford when he put together the volume. He joined the Navy at the beginning of the Spanish-American War and served through that conflict. Middlebrook was a well known naval historian and secretary of the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company. The scrapbook contains pictures of naval vessels, photographs of those serving in the US Navy, newspaper clippings, documents related to the Connecticut National Guard, and other related documents and ephemera.
